Best Lighntweight Backpacking Tent, July 13, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 Tent (Sports) Recently took this tent on a 30 mile backpack from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley. It is easy to put up and well built. It's greatest advantage is it's lightweight at 2.2 pounds. Also like the clip design for attaching the fly to the tent and groundcloth. Yes it is expensive but where pounds count it comes through with flying colors. Only drawback is the internal stash hammock does not come with it and is a special order. Planning to take it on the John Muir Trail next month.

This tent comes in at just over 2 lbs , making the Fly Creek II an ultralight dream tent. The tent pitches fast, and hods up in fairly strong gusts on Maine coast islands(I kayak camp). I just finished my second season with this tent and it still feels and looks new.

It is light (40 oz plus 4 for the footprint) and very easy to setup.
Big Agnes does not send any instructional booklet with the tent - though instructions are printed on the tent stuff sack lid. Instructions are also available for down load from the web site.
All you do is put the footprint down, then lay the tent on the footprint - front has two grommets on straps, the back only one. Then you take out the tent poles, assemble them by gently pulling ends out, the shock cord pulls them back - assemble the hub (three poles now stick out of it). Put one end of the shorter pole in the front left grommet of both footprint and tent, the other short pole in the right grommet. Then all you do is bend down the long section to fit into the grommet at the back. Now, you lift the tent roof and clip it into 4 clips on the pole set. The fly is now put on top and... Read more
